soliloquy

soliloquy: an utterance or discourse by a person who is talking to himself or herself or is disregardful of or oblivious to any hearers present; to talk to oneself.

my poems aren't really poetic.
i've lost that sense of my
language.
they're mostly broken letters,
that i'm not brave enough to send.
they are a lost cause,
a broken heart,
craving tranquility.
my poems are no longer poetic.
they've lost solidity.

we wrote the original bad romance.

i won't lie,
i thought i'd never see you again.
i couldn't deny how often
you were truly on my mind,
but i found comfort in the fact
that
you were so far gone
that
i'd never have to be reminded
of
your dark skin,
of
your warm eyes,
of
your crooked smile,
of
your curly hair.
i reveled in my memory of you
that i imagined in my head.
i didn't know that you have been so close,
and it scares me a bit.
but last night was the closest we've been
in quite awhile.
and honestly i probably sound
like a creep.
how close can across a parking lot
really be?
but i couldn't help but stare,
hoping the parking lights would
catch a glimpse of the man
of the body
i used to know so well.
i can't describe what i felt
as soon as i saw
your familiar sillouette.
something jumped at my
chest.
i knew i couldn't just walk over
say hi.
things are so far gone between us
i can't even recall how it truly
ended.
i don't think it was lit enough for me
to see that crooked smile again.
but i remember it like i did.
